Mentoring programs, whether formal or informal can be a valuable employee development and retention tool. Leaders will learn the essential components for a successful mentoring program and gain an understanding of how to maximize mentoring as a development tool for both mentees and mentors. A well-tested model will be explored and will provide a template for application in the work environment.
Teams are an effective, efficient way to maximize the abilities of people at work, reduce layers of management and provide better customer service. It is important to understand that teams do not evolve naturally, but, like a sports team, must be carefully constructed, clearly directed, given proper growing conditions and appropriate reward structures. Many of today's organizations that are transitioning to teams unintentionally omit one of these key components. This program examines the necessity of and potential pitfalls avoided with each of these critical aspects of teaming.
The increase in workplace violence incidents is cause for concern for leaders and staff alike. Identifying behaviors that interfere with maintaining an environment of teamwork, cooperation and worker safety and addressing them before they lead to violent incidents will be the main goals of this program. Participants will be given basic tips to enhance their ability to address inappropriate behaviors effectively. Specific attention will be paid to behaviors that should be avoided as well. The program provides an opportunity to review and discuss organizational policy regarding workplace violence.
